25 June 04 General membership meeting

The meeting started with introductions of the officers, there were 16 – 20 people in attendance, of that all officers present except the Treasurer and Secretary. The Safety office was well represented by Ms. Terry, Sgt Shorty and Safety officer Mr. Steve Reed.

  1. Treasurer Report – Have an account at SAC FCU with $340, Director has $36.50 on hand for a total of $376.50.
  2. Secretary Report – Email is at a standstill with integrating Stratcom, AFWA, DFAS, etc into one distro list. The Charter is also at a standstill awaiting attention from the Legal office.
  3. Meeting minutes read - 12 June meeting were read and the only change was a fix to my typo of 12 July, otherwise minutes were accepted as read.
  4. New Business –
    1. Non-Elected Positions:

                                                               i.            Mentors – Lt Col’s Westland and Wilhelm and Mr. Carl Brown volunteered. SSgt Carr emailed his intentions, but we still need more experienced riders to help the new riders, especially Sport Bike riders.

ii.            Sergeant-at-Arms – No volunteers as yet.

iii.            Historian – No Volunteers at the meeting, but April Heydorn volunteered this morning. So this position is filled.

iv.            Photographer – Mr. Brown and Mr. Shawn Qualley volunteered, still could use one or two more.

                                                             v.            Ride Captains – Mr. Brown, Pastor Rordy and Mr. Reed stepped up, still need a lot more.

    1. Committees:

                                                               i.            Ride Committee – Mr. Qualley, Mr. Reed, Lt. Col Westland and TSgt Klepsa. Could use two more.

ii.            Membership – TSgt Miner and TSgt Spicer.

iii.            Fund Raising – Pastor Rordy and Mrs. Westland. Could use a couple more.

iv.            Patch, Coin and t-shirts – Mr. Qualley and Mr. Reed.

                                                             v.            Web Site – Carl Brown is the current web master, however some one with know how or site ideas could help out.

    1. Other:

                                                               i.            Motorcycle maintenance training – A possible “service” that could be provided by members for members, perhaps under the mentor program.

ii.            Tour Harley Davidson plant – The H.D. plant in Kansas City operates tours during the week, which we want to schedule a ride to, there is an open house in Sept or Oct that we want to look into making a ride also.

iii.            Civilian assistance – The civilian riding population on Offutt does not have the same amount of training/experience as the AD guys, so we would like to help them be better/more experienced riders.

iv.            Getting the word out – To facilitate membership the word of our existence needs to get out. Mr. Reed took the lead on creating flyers, business cards were brought up and adding the fact we exist to CC in-brief’s was also discussed. The flyers would be posted in high traffic areas, Pass and ID, gym, Barbershop. Any other ideas welcome.

                                                             v.            Recommendation page – This would be a website page where we can post positive and negative feedback about local dealers and shops. It may even expand to include ride routes and destinations.

vi.            Dealer Discounts – Approach all local dealerships to provide discounts to ORA members. Mrs. Westland threw her hat in the ring to contact some and verify to get the discount we just show our ORA card.

1.      DSR Powersports located on 13th Street just North of Howard in the Old Market, is providing a 10% discount for ORA members. There were no negative comments made by or even heard by anyone in attendance, good prices and staff. Not a lot of gear in stock but they have a lot of books and know their way around them.

  1. Safety Brief – Ms. Terry offered to try and form a database of all ACC Fatality briefs on motorcycles for us to use and learn from. The briefs consist of facts only, no names or bases, so they may be published on the website for all to read.
