12 Oct 04 Regular membership meeting notes:
The meeting started at 6:30 with introductions of the officers, there were 18 people in attendance, of that the officers present were Director, Secretary and Safety Mr. Reed.
i. Ride Committee – Chair - Capt. Mike Richards, Barry Wilkinson, Mike Burton, and MSgt Dennis Edwards. Along with Mr. Qualley, Mr. Reed, Lt. Col Westland and TSgt Klepsa. Could use two more.
ii. Membership – Chair - TSgt Scott Spicer, Mike Haro, Sal Bruno. The Committee working on getting the word out in the Base paper.
iii. Fund Raising – Chair - Pastor Rordy and Mrs. Westland. Could use a couple more.
iv. Patch, Coin and t-shirts – Mr. Qualley and Mr. Reed. More T-shirts can be ordered, need 20. Long sleeve also.
v. Web Site – Carl Brown is the web master.
vi. Mentor – Chair - Carl Brown, (Who else)
i. Open - Still under consideration but not discussed. Motorcycle maintenance training – A possible “service” that could be provided by members for members, perhaps under the mentor program.
ii. Open - Still under consideration but not discussed. Civilian assistance – The civilian riding population on Offutt does not have the same amount of training/experience as the AD guys, so we would like to help them be better/more experienced riders.
iii. Open - Getting the word out – Mr. Reed created a tri-fold brochure to hand out or post in various locations. Scott Spicer came up with a business card design that was approved, it can be modified with your info and printed out. Other ideas for locations were wing stand-up, Commanders Access Channel, the BX, dealerships, VFW’s and Legion hall’s.
iv. Open - Still under consideration but not discussed. Recommendation page – This would be a website page where we can post positive and negative feedback about local dealers and shops. It may even expand to include ride routes and destinations. Close
v. Open - Dealer Discounts – Approach all local dealerships to provide discounts to ORA members. Mrs. Westland threw her hat in the ring to contact some and verify to get the discount we just show our ORA card.
1. DSR Powersports located on 13th Street just North of Howard in the Old Market, is providing a 10% discount for ORA members. There were no negative comments made by or even heard by anyone in attendance, good prices and staff. Not a lot of gear in stock but they have a lot of books and know their way around them.
i. Change “Director to President”
ii. Change eligibility to include all honorably discharged veterans.
iii. To include the collections of Dues $10 per year.
The meeting was concluded and everyone went on their merry way.
