Old Business:
Charter Review:
Section C – members duties and laws. There is a paragraph discussing the conduct of ORA members harming the reputation of the ORA. Pastor Rordy makes a motion to remove the statement from the Charter. Motion approved – paragraph removed
Point of order – do we have an entry in the charter to decide what happens to Treasury Funds if the ORA is dissolved? Per Charter, all Funds will be donated to a majority vote charity.
Go to the Web Site and print and sign the Charter acknowledgement letter. Bring it to the next meeting. Per legal, all members need to be aware of the Charter and bylaws by signing the letter.
Point of Order – is the Treasurer Bonded? NO. Due to low amount of funds (see above) club agrees it’s not necessary.
T-Shirts are here for folks that pre-paid. Used as incentive to get those who paid to come to meetings. If they don’t show up, we’re going to offer them up to the next member with funds. Steve will put out another final e-mail to give them a final chance to pick up their shirts. Motion to sell unclaimed shirts seconded and approved by membership.
Mike Haro has the patches so pick them up.
Steve Reed has some safety stickers for affixing to helmets with instructions for “Good Samaritans”
Web discussions:
Eric has a question – Web Page is nice BUT there are motorcycles of some that we don’t have. Can we submit personal photos of our own bikes?
Mike Haro – some places will allow us to purchase a ORA.COM domain. Shawn recommended the favorites option.
Shelved for future discussion
Any more issues for the website? Need more photos per Mike Burton. Example – Elkhorn HOG web site has great photos.
Reports from committees
Fund Raising (Pastor Rordy and Edie) – working on 50/50 right now. We still have $150 worth of donations from vendors that we can try to auction off tonight.
Soliciting Fund Raising volunteers. Committee only has Pastor Rordy and Susan Westland right now.
We’ll need about 20 letters to local vendors to solicit more donations for fund raising initiatives.
Pastor Rordy motions that the ORA picks up the membership dues for Roger from the VFW post since he provides the facilities and administrative support to the ORA. Seconded and approved by the ORA.
Membership Committee (Scott Spicer)
Scott Spicer inquires status on from Eli on the brochure? Eli’s gone to graphics and had it tweaked. WG/SE has offered to print off the first 200 on her color printer.
Shawn said he’s been talking to the wing to solicit leadership support (O-6s). We’re trying to get on his (BGen Koziols) calendar. Shawn working on a poster.
Steve will put up a poster outside the STRATCOM cafeteria and on his bulletin board. Enlist the help of Audrey Terry to pull the names of all the unit motorcycle safety officers.
Mentorship Committee (Carl and Bob Lake)
Bottom line – be prepared before we go visit the general. Have a proposed mentorship program before we get there. Action for Carl and Bob to flesh out program.
Talked to WG/SE – mandated mentorship program from ACC. ACC said you will have a mentorship program – experienced rider has to mentor a new rider on base. Only applies on base. WG/SE was approached to ask about this program. After a certain number of “mentored rides”, the novice is “certified” to ride on base. We want to talk to the Wing King about a real mentorship program. ORA can help. We have instructors in the club. We’ve offered up our help – we cannot help WG/SE if they do not get the word out? Why aren’t we invited to commanders call?
Long discussion on the merits and downfalls of a mentorship program. The target age of the mentorship program is the young kids that ride crotch rockets.
Pastor Rordy had the idea of giving out cards to novice riders with the names and numbers of ORA mentors on one side and a “log” on the other side to document “mentored” rides and progression. After card filled, member is certified by ORA mentor and then offered full membership with voting rights.
Public Relations (Dwight and Gunny Smith)
NTR
From Gunny Smith – a list passed to President Qualley with POCs for local media outlets.
Action for Gunny Smith and Dwight – need to advertise next meeting (11 Jan) in the Air Pulse, CC Access Channel, Roll Call, etc). Develop a permanent advertisement for the ORA for the Commanders Access Channel. Pastor Rordy stressed our message: “What are we about? Safety, Skills Training, and equipment!” Somebody suggested putting cards on motorcycles on the base.
Ride Committee: (Mike Richards)
No rides planned – too cold! Need inputs – send to Mike Richards (michael.richards@offutt.af.mil)
Social Committee (Barry Wilkinson)
Barry Wilkinson knows who to approach to set up our own poker run.
Roger would like to help out with setting up a VFW run.
Susan Westland planned on going to this poker run planning meeting to secure a weekend for the ORA.
There are progressively difficult rides for novice riders that begin at the start of the riding season. We should leverage that for the mentorship program.
We need a Historian and a Sergeant-at-Arms. Must show up to meetings though!
We have 74 current members (all paid up) as of today. The e-mail address is just folks that we know ride. There are about 149 names on the e-mail list. We really need to talk this ORA thing up.
Next on the agenda – Spring tune-up. Skills Tune Up? Great initiative. Brush up on the rusty skills over the winter. We have access to the range. Steve Reed was voluntold! Leverage a Spring Safety Down Day. Need to get the young Airman out of the office to partake on the safety day ride.
Let’s do a Spring ERC and Fall ERC.
Last call for new business? Roger – pitch for the VFW. If you’ve never served in a combat situation there is an organization called AMVETS. For $20/year you can join. Brochures are here. Current VFW members that don’t have a home, this post will take you in. This post VFW 247 (oldest in Nebraska and second oldest in USA since 1918) will welcome you in. If you’re a floater, consider joining Post 247 – cost is $22/year.
Requirements for membership:
No more new business.
50/50 raffle now till take place. Mike Haro wins $11!
2015 – meeting adjourned!
